About Kev

Kev relaxing in Spain!

Kevin Chesham is an internationally acclaimed triathlon champion, having won numerous national (UK) and European and world championships and taken other medals since taking up triathlon at 42.

Kev competing in the Dubai Skins Triathlon Series!

A natural athlete from a young age, Kevin represented his Hertfordshire college at county level in both swimming and running. Kev has also achieved a Black Belt 1st Dan in karate.

In 1971 he received drumming tuition from Phil Seaman, at that time known as "Britain's most sought after jazz drummer". Seaman carried a pair of drumsticks with him everywhere he went, recalls Kevin, wrapped in a copy of the Daily Telegraph. He worked with Ronnie Scott, Alexis Konner, Georgie Fame and many others. Although Seaman sadly passed away at his flat in Lambeth in 1972, Kevin went onto play the drums professionally for many years.

In the early 1970s Kevin also worked as a lifeguard at Hornsey Road Baths and Finchley Swimming Pool. Kevin combined his passions for swimming, horse riding, show jumping, fencing, shooting and running, and began competing in Modern Pentathlon in which arena he was similarly decorated.

Between 1975 and 1981 Kevin served as a Sergent in the British Army, with the Royal Mechanical Electrical Engineers.  Kevin also has the distinction of being selected to represent Great Britain at the Olympic Games. Sadly this was not to take place due to an injury which forced temporary retirement from training.

For several years Kevin ran a sports shop in Wembley, and became a confident amateur boxer.  The accident whilst training necessitated a period of rehabilitation for the best part of a year, which inspired Kevin to take up triathlon.

Today Kevin is in demand as a triathlon coach, and trains competitors in high profile locations as diverse as Torremolinos, Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
